Radio Commentater Breeds Hate

If you ask Benoit Dutrisac, he'd tell you he hasn't got anything against Jews, but listening to his recent radio show, a rant against the Jewish religion, one would have to draw a different conclusion.

Mr. Dutrisac was furious over a Hampstead bylaw that forbids noise on the Jewish holy days of Rosh Hashona and Yom Kippor, railing against the idea of the overwhelmingly Jewish town imposing their religious beliefs on the minority citizens who are not Jewish.

Hmmm.....
So Mr. Dutrisac is bent out of shape because the town is imposing the will of the majority on the minority... Isn't the irony delicious?

Now one can agree or disagree with the bylaw and express one's opinion without delving into hate, but that's not what Mr. Dutirsac decided to do.

Interviewing his guest, Alain Pronkin, he asked for an explanation of the holidays when he was told that Rosh Hashona celebrated the New Year he just went off on the Jewish religion.

In Quebec he informed listeners nastily, the New Year falls on January 1st. Period.

I wonder if Mr. Dutrisac is also offended by celebrations of the Chinese New Year and whether he also believes that that the annual parade in Chinatown, celebrating the occasion, also should be banned because it is 'un-Quebecois.'

He then poked fun at Judaism asking what sort of God Jews prayed to and when informed that the name of the Jewish God is 'Adonai', sarcastically asked if that was the name of Celine Dion's father.

Mr. Dutrisac then invited listeners to go to Hampstead on Rosh Hashona and Yom Kipper and honk their horns and make all sorts of noise to show the Jewish community that they don't run things in Quebec.
"Honk your horn, make some noise, fart, whatever, any kind of noise to show the Jewish community that it is not the Jewish community that is in charge in Quebec. It’s not them who will determine how we will live as a society in Quebec. That’s just not true. It’s not true that they are going to impose their religious concepts, their religious precepts on the entire society. There are some damned limits.”
The interview ends rather abruptly when Mr. Pronkin reminds Mr. Dutrisac that there are towns (including Hampstead) that ban noise on Sunday.

CLICK.   Interview over.  Mr. Dutrisac did not want the conversation to go in that direction.

If you understand French listen to the interview HERE

Of course there are those inspired by Mr. Dutrisac exhortations who did exactly what he asked them to do. Here from a FACEBOOK page devoted to the demonstration, is a reference to Mr. Dutisac,

"Even Dutrisac is asking us to make noise today"

A small convoy of cars drove through the Jewish town honking and blasting their radios on Saturday.
A modern Quebec version of a POGROM.

Graeme Hamilton of the National post recounts the affair better than I can, do please read his story HERE

David Ouellet is a popular Quebec blogger who defends Jewish Quebecers against hate and disinformation. He posted a bunch of the hate messages that went up on the FACEBOOK page of the television network that aired a program by Quebec journalist Richard Martineau, another blowhard, who of course, aired a slanted and disparaging report on the Hampstead bylaw.

Although the network removed most of the offensive comments, which are not pre-moderated, some remain.
I thought I'd share  a translated version of them with you;
"Was Adolf right?"
"Me, I'm tempted to place a 42 foot long truck full of pigs on its territory"

"LET'S SHOW THESE DIRTY JEWS WHO IS MASTER HERE!"

"It's time to to show them who is boss, this shitty band of Jews."

"The next Jew who knocks on my door is going to be shown some rough justice."

"That's why there is war wherever Jews are."

"According to Hitler, Jews are a race of 'parasites' and 'vermin' which we need to get rid of, (I didn't invent this) but it says it all. "

"It doesn't surprise me that the Jews control the world."

"We're sick of these f--king parasites who do what they want in Quebec. We need to send then to a concentration camp in the Olympic Stadium and get rid of them."

"I can't get over that there are people who defend theses Jews. We need to gas them all, that will take care of the problem."
Remember, these comments were made on the FACEBOOK page of a major television network.

Yup, there's no racism in Quebec.

  2. It still amazes me to this day that compared to bigots like this Dutrisquack clown, Don Cherry's comment on "French guys" (Quebec-born French speaking hockey players) wearing eye visors are some kind of sissies was looked upon with much greater disdain.

This bigoted village idiot starts off by yapping about how Jan 1 is new year's in Quebec, the only new year. I thought the Vernal Equinox represents the new year, and Easter Sunday is designed around that time of year.

In reality, there are four "new years" in Judaism. See http://judaism.about.com/od/jewishculture/a/Why-Are-There-Four-Jewish-New-Years.htm

As stated in the above portal link, there are different "new years" everywhere. An NHL year is from July 1 to June 30. An academic "year" is usually from September to June and other organizations, including government, have fiscal years that differ from the calendar year. The federal and Quebec governments start THEIR new year on April 1st and it's October 1st in the U.S. (their budget year).

That alone proves what an ignoramus that Dutrisquack clown really is. To encourage listeners to go to a community and wreak havoc with noise should land this spazz in jail for inciting a public disturbance, but of course, Quebec being the blatantly racist society it is, it won't.

I guess dealing "fairly and openly" with minorities that Quebec's Great Charter of Charters describes means different things to different people--and Quebec can be described as NOTHING less than different.

PHIL, to answer your question, I refer back to [former MNA and cabinet minister] Reed Scowen's exposé "Time to say Goodbye" that the [separatist] Parti Québécois openly stated such vitriolic racism in its doctrine encouraging public rhetoric. It was Hitler's verbally declared decrees that led to the extermination of people Hitler declared inferior, including Jews most of all, but also Gypsies, Slavs, Russians (despite his non-agression pact with another bastard of a monster, Stalin) and a host of others.

If this puke of humanity could have somehow legally incited a riot, akin to a Krystalnacht, he probably would have led the charge himself.

"[The impudent imbecile] then poked fun at Judaism asking what sort of God Jews prayed to". The person on the other end of the phone should have answered "the very same God you do".

I think Harper was an idiot to give Quebec the $2.2 billion over to Quebec. He had nothing politically to lose. In fact, I think he should totally cut Quebec out at the next round of Equalization negotiations in 2014. Yesterday, on CTV's Question Period, the pundits touched upon it, and Craig Oliver I believe stated there are only six people in all of Canada who really know the formula. What is this? A KFC or Coca Cola recipe secret?

Considering Quebec uses this money, from other provinces to support $7-a-day daycare and other expensive goodies NOBODY else can afford, this to me stands to reason Quebec doesn't need equalization payments, and I think a public website to exclude Quebec from Equalization in 2014 should be started.

  4. This is not racism. At least not in Quebec. You see the only thing that can be considered racism in Quebec is racism against "real Quebecers." Otherwise it is simply the majority protecting it's rights.

    Examples:
    Not racism:
    Kike, nigger, chink, Bon-juif...

    Racism:
    Pepsi, pepper.....

    Not racism:
    Public displays of Christianity

    Racism:
Public displays of anything not Christian

    Understand?

    Is that you, Haiti cherie?

There may be racism in English Canada, but it is not as prevalent or as acceptable as it is in Quebec. The bigotry frequently displayed in the Quebec media would be unacceptable elsewhere. Show me a recent example of anti-semitism in the rest of Canada such as the example cited by the Editor.

  8. "Remember, these comments were made on the FACEBOOK page of a major television network."

Just like so many anti-Francophone comments made on the site of major television networks (CBC, CTV, etc) are extremely disgusting, calling for violence just like those comments against Jews and they are still online to this day. Will you ever write an article about this? I don't think so.

There even was a National Post article similar to yours, talking about comments too and they were shocked some comments were still online. That's weird because on the National Post's site I've seen hateful comments in many Quebec-related articles and they were never removed! They should start cleaning up their own sites first before talking. Your own blog still has anti-Francophone comments online.

Oh, right. It's not about Jews or Blacks or Asians or whatever and it's not about an English-speaking group so it's not as bad and they don't care.

If there are hateful ones below mine, my point will be proven. Just a reminder: just because some people from an ethnic group say mean things about another ethnic group doesn't make it right to hate the former because then you are just as bad and hate everyone even those who have done nothing wrong.

  9. "Le Canada Anglais"? That term doesn't mean anything. I live "in English" here in Montreal.

    ReplyDelete
  10. @ PHIL
I'm not the one who wrote that but usually it means either all provinces minus Quebec or anyone who lives in English in Canada so it can include some people in Quebec and doesn't include some people in other provinces. I've seen the term English Canada used many times in English so I guess it really does mean something.

    ReplyDelete
  11. If you use such term you acknowledge that Quebec is a French-only province. :(

    ReplyDelete
  12. Read your comment again, well that makes sense sort of... for example French Canada could also include some parts of Eastern Ontario and New Brunswick, etc .... I still don't like those terms though as they imply one particular area is 100% English or 100% French.

  15. Not really surprising, is it?

People in this province are taught that racism is acceptable at a very early age. A few examples:

    - Jacques Parizeau and his famous drunk referendum speech. Politicians are supposed to set an example, we all know what example this man set. Not only is racism ok, but so is excessive drinking!

    - Falardeau and his entire useless career spent insulting the english and anyone of another race or religion or language. How many "Québécois" grew up watching this guy say how much he'd like to see all the english dead?

    - Loco Locass. Here's some people with a grade 4 education who were brilliant enough to bring current politics into their music (wow such an original idea guys), and thus became official spokesmen for the separatist movement. Putting "Libérez nous des libéraux" in french rap is a good way of spreading the propaganda to the less educated people.

    - The fact that the two groups of racists that I just mentioned are government funded, by our taxes. That's right, entirely funded by our taxes. I'm very happy to be paying for people to tell me I don't belong here, simply because I'm more educated than them.

    - Finally, even considering all the issues you could come up with to criticize our current government, the argument you'll hear the most often is how our Premier's name could be John James! Who cares what he's done or hasn't done, HE HAS AN ENGLISH NAME!!!!!!! Could you imagine if our premier was named "Barack Obama"? This leads me to believe that Québécois french are more racist than southern americans...

So considering all this, what example do you think we're leaving for the future generations?

It seems like the "conquerors" (who in fact were a competing superpower in a worldwide duel of two superpowers) can't do anything right. If they conquered and exterminated, it would have been wrong. If they conquered and assimilated, it would have been wrong. Now, it turns out that conquering and letting live (laisser vivre) is also wrong.

I guess the British, to show good faith (bonne foi) should have let the French win the war. Or at least, treat them as victors, and after winning, leave the continent to them.

You are not the native people of Quebec and you lost the colonial war...get over it.

"Entre autres, il faudrait cesser d'envoyer 50 milliards par année à une nation étrangère."

Quebec gets all of that money back in one form or another, plus an additional 8.5 billion dollars every year from hard working Canadians in other provinces. Quebec dairy farmers are also guaranteed 50% of the market across Canada, even though they constitute less than 25% of the population. Both the equalization payments and the agricultural market guarantees should be abolished.

"Il faudrait cesser de surfinancer les institutions étrangères de langue anglaise établies au Québec."

Quebec Anglophones pay more than their fair share of taxes in Quebec because most of them live and work in the Montreal region, which is the economic engine of the province. Anglos pay taxes along with additional contributions to support their institutions. This "overfinancing" claim by the separatists is a myth.

The Natives should be considered one of the founding peoples of Canada. They were here for thousands of years before the English or French arrived. And yes...the French were invaders and conquerors themselves.

It was rather appropriate that Elijah Harper - a Native - put the final nail in the coffin of the Meech Lake Accord, which gave special treatment to Quebec but ignored the Native people completely.

Most of the indigenous people in Quebec are federalists.

It seems to me that Quebec has a great deal of power and autonomy within Canada. It has its own parliament and it has been able to ban or restrict English, which is one of Canada's official languages.

I would really like to see how the Quebecois would react if they were treated (by the federal government) the same way that they treat minorities within their own province.
