Quebec Debt Growing Out of Hand

Quebec debt is piling up faster than one can imagine. I found this nifty tool over at the Montreal Economic Institute website. The province is piling up debt at a rate of 9 billion dollars per year, $25 million per day, $17,215.27 per minute, or $287.00 per second.

The federal government is piling on debt at a rate of $153 million per day.

Quebec's population is about 7, 800,000 people and divvying up the debt means every Quebeckers owes about $27,630. Wow! By the way, that debt is going up that a rate of $1,100 a year!

Add to that debt, about $15,000 more, which represents each citizens portion of Canada's debt and the average citizen's debt load is over $42,000

Here's a link to the Canadian Taxpayer's Federation's Debt Clock.

Bad as it is, we better off than the Americans, who owe an average of $40,000 at the federal level. Add state debt to that and the average American owes well over $50,000.

That  being said we are in a much worse position than any state or province.
Our ability to repay the debt is severely hampered by the fact that we are the poorest province (per capitia) in Canada. Although the Americans owe more than us, they generate a lot more income and even though they owe more money than us, are really in a better financial position.

An excellent conservative Quebec blogger named DAVID is particularly adept at deconstructing  numbers. Even if you don't speak French, his well prepared charts transgress the language barrier.  Here is the LINK.

Out of the ten provinces, Quebec families bring home the least money both before and after taxes and we owe the most...Ughhh!!!!....

Here is a link to the US Debt Clock which is quite fascinating...

  1. And then there are still fuckers wanting to have their own country.

Let them have part of it, all the regions who voted yes at 60% of more in 1995 will be the ones that form the new country Quebec.

And let the rest of the province of Quebec move on without them.

  3. Maybe if they start cleaning up in welfare recipients they,ll find that 75% are able but NOT willing to work. It's too easy having affordable housing, 7 dollar daycare for moms that stay home and all medication paid. How about companies that have so many loopholes in the taxation that they are able to bypass paying the taxes they should be. The aso called MIDDLE class just keeps having to dish out the money. I wonder if eventually middle class is wiped out and only poor and rich are left! Vive le Quebec libre!!

  4. Hey Tym_Machine: No, Quebec goes--ALL OF IT! Anglos born after 1950 who have chosen to stay in Quebec get what they deserve. I remember my own late mother, MSRIP, stating how we should stay and fight. Hey...not a bad idea. The only problem was, nobody fought. She said that in 1974 when Bill 22 (by a supposed federalist party) was legislated. Sadly, it took another 20 years for Howard Galganov to come along. He busted his guts fighting, but it was too little too late. He likely would have had a lot more impact had he started in the mid-1970s.

I was only 16 when Bill 22 passed (born, raised and educated in Montreal). I decided right then and there I would conclude my (dirt cheap, heavily subsidized) education, and leave ASAP after completion. The day after my convocation at Concordia U, I went to Ottawa to set up my apartment for a job I got there from university recruiting in my final year. I eventually moved to T.O., and am not one iota sorry I did.

Seeing how much federal money ($8 billion per year, just in equalization payments let alone billions more for other programs) goes to a constantly whining, fed bashing society of ingrates, I think Canada should hold a referendum to ask the rest of Canada if they want Quebec in the fold or not. A yes vote of 50% + 1 is plenty to convince me! Quebec is nothing but an expense! You think the Greeks are going through hard times? They'd be in MUCH worse if the drachma was still their currency. Being on the Euro, compared to what would happen to the drachma, is right now saving their necks!

Let Quebec separate, and good riddance. The new currency they'd have to create wouldn't be worth a Zimbabwe dollar!

    1. Calling us "ingrates " says the guy that got his education paid by Quebec taxpayer only to leave "asap" after graduation... The face of ingratitude stairs at you in the mirror every morning my friend!

  5. Please pass this on far and wide. We have to expose what is going on in Canada...

It’s a nightmare, they run everything in Ottawa, they funnel the money where they want, spin, lies, propaganda, revisionist BS … In that there is constant pressure to rewrite our history - to pacify the cranky Province of Quebec and the french outside Quebec - a major reason we lost the Red Ensign in the first place - we must do what we can to protect and preserve our history. A history that is under constant attack. Very few Canadians are aware that we now have portraits in our parliament of French Kings - who had nothing to do with the building of Canada- the statue of General James Wolfe no longer overlooks the Plains of Abraham, the only statue in Quebec City is of the losing General, Montcalm. There are statues of three French generals but no statues of the victorious generals at the Valiant’s memorial in Ottawa. That’s right, no General Wolfe, no General Amherst… This historical revisionism is going on right under the noses of the Governments we elect - and they remain silent!

“First Quebec, then the rest of the country, one step at a time…” How ? What are they really up to? “First Quebec, then we take over the rest of the country, one step at a time…through bilingualism…” PT, “How to take over a country through bilingualism…” SD. How ? First comes the right to communicate with gov't in a minority language (ie French),then comes bilingualism, then comes the right to work in the language of choice(ie French), then comes a bilingual boss,(ie French) then comes a exclusively French department and on it goes until its all French. Its happening all over the country…That’s what’s really going on. Wake up, people! Quebec, where the English, Scottish, Irish, United Empire Loyalists… built up the province of Kebec (original native spelling) since 1763. Yes, the same province of Kebec where the Union Jack and Red Ensign flew until 1950. Again, just the facts…This lie, this hoax, this revisionist nonsense that Quebec is a French province and that Canada is bilingual is just that, an outright lie. Fact: We have been part of the British Empire since 1763.We were officially an English speaking country for over 200 years, again just the facts. Almost 1 million people have been forced out of the province of Kebec due to this type of hatred/lie/spin… While all this is going on in Quebec they are forcing the French language outside Quebec in every province. Everything and anything the French demand they are getting across this entire country. They call it bilingualism (another lie never clearly defined on purpose). What are they really up to? “First Quebec, then we take over the rest of the country, one step at a time…through bilingualism…” PT, “How to take over a country through bilingualism…” SD. That’s what’s really going on. Wake up, people! Ask yourself a simple question. Why are we not teaching our real BNA history? Why are we not teaching our proud UEL history in our schools any longer?

"Loyal She Began, Loyal She Remains." Go learn our proud, real BNA and UEL history. These were the builders of our country since 1763. Not this phony, revisionist lie, this bilingual, multicultural, 2 founding nations, linguistic duality lie, propaganda, spin that we’ve been living with since Trudeau, and kebec forced this upon the nation. We’ve been part of the British Empire since 1763 and officially an English speaking country for over 200 years…just a fact. Wake up people, your country is in deep trouble and NO English speaking politician is telling you the truth, is exposing what is really going on. Not one politician has the decency, the honesty to expose the truth, to speak the truth, how pathetic. Poor Canada, what a mess.

  6. Loyal she will never she was...

nothing is bilingual, since the Quebec Act 1774 everything is nothing but false promises... like a cup of tea the Queen has, she sipped, and it's gone. What does she do for her farflung countries ? like in the floods of Australia, the respect of the French in Quebec ?

It is not 2 founding nations, one always one to drive by the nose the other one which was here before. Just the facts: it is French for 400 years ! So come on !

Die in peace in your cemetaries and limit yourself in them.

Speak the only language you know: English. You took over try to control and you are in the mess: a tar baby !
You will have to do like the OBAMA's deception: get out ! get out of French Canada and let us live in peace. This is not a budget sheet, it's a NATION!
Your readings are bearing an utopia ! Read philosophy and history !!!!
