Is Animal Cruelty Part of Quebec Values?

It's somewhat disconcerting to listen to Quebecers drone on about those infamous Quebec values as if those who live here are more open and fair-minded then anywhere else in Canada.
This is the rationale employed by the PQ to assert the need for Quebec's very own set of societal rules.

It's a slick, albeit dishonest ploy, flattering Quebecers with the nonsense that they are better, in order to win electoral favour.

It's like telling an ugly person that he or she is handsome or beautiful. Even though that deep down they know they're ugly, the compliment is deeply appreciated and welcomed. Let's be honest, who of us is not susceptible.

And so, if Quebecers accept the PQ version that they are kinder and gentler than Canadians, the Charter makes sense, an affirmation of that view.

It has become part of the great separatist narrative that Quebecers are more environmentally friendly, socially responsible and in possession of values morally superior to those in the ROC, when in fact nothing could be farther from the truth.
We'll get back to that superiority complex, later in the post.

Have you noticed that every PQ defender of the proposed Charter of Quebec Values, (or changes to the present Quebec Charter of human rights and freedoms,)  starts off the discussion with the same refrain, the principle of equality between men and woman?
Every time I hear the assertion, I ask myself in which Canadian province or American state is there a codified regulation or rule that stipulates that men have entrenched rights superior to women.
The truth of course is that we already have a Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms that guarantees gender equality, this since 1982.
 (1) Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability. Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
In the comments section of the Journal de Montreal, I found this humorous exchange, one that actually sums up the reality surrounding the question of Quebec Values.

Christian Langlois
Can somebody name one great Quebec value that isn't already included in the Charter of Rights and Liberties?
     JM B-49
     Shepard's pie and baked beans!
           RFIDNATOR
           and poutine! poutine???
So why start off the 'values' debate claiming ownership of a right that is already fully entrenched in law and which ALL Canadians, including Quebecers are already subject to?
Why?
Because playing the gender equality card is actually a clever sales ploy, the famous 'bait and switch' tactic that dishonest sellers employ to fool customers.
"Bait-and-switch is a form of fraud used in retail sales but also employed in other contexts. First, customers are "baited" by merchants' advertising products or services at a low price, but when customers visit the store, they discover that the advertised goods are not available, or the customers are pressured by sales people to consider similar, but higher priced items ("switching"). Wikipedia
Including rights that we already own and cherish within the proposed Quebec Charter of Values makes the nasty bits that follow easier to accept.
Or as Mary Poppins told us, "A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down!"

Bernard Drainville, as slimy a politician as I have ever seen, deposited his draft law yesterday, prohibiting the wearing of religious symbols in public schools, the government, and just about everywhere the government has influence.
I know that I predicted that the interdiction wouldn't apply to doctors and nurses and even though he announced that it would, I remain convinced that in the end, the medical profession will be left alone.

As for Drainville, I cannot stomach this loathsome excuse for a politician who oozes disdain for minorities while feigning concern. When asked by a reporter if he found it normal that under the law, the Premier of the province could wear a hijab or kippah, but not a public servant, Drainville retorted sarcastically, that it remains to be seen if Quebecers would vote for a Hijab clad candidate for Premier.
What a charmer!

Drainville justified his proposed law based on the popular support of the people. If the people want it, it must be right!

Now leaders must listen to the people, but in the end they must do what is right, not what is necessarily popular.

I am reminded of President John F. Kennedy, who imposed desegregation across the United States against the popular will of the people.
In 1963, when faced with resistance in the South, he held firm, to the point where he sent in the National Guard to enforce desegregation at the University of Alabama.
It was a gripping confrontation between popular sentiment and the emerging political principle of equality. There was violent opposition, rioting, injuries and even deaths. But Kennedy remained resolute.

Had you asked Americans back then if they agreed with the principal of equal opportunity for Blacks, you'd have found that the majority were against the idea.
Kennedy delivered the country a stunning lesson in leadership, doing what was right, not what was popular.
The rest is history!.... Read a gripping account

Here in Quebec, leadership means doing the bidding of the mob, if it will help with reelection. And so Mr. Drainville, all I can say, (with apologies to Lloyd Bentsen) is that "You're no Jack Kennedy"

In a hysterical reaction on the French news station LCN, the text crawl under the commentators read:

"response to accommodation crisis"
"Crisis" What crisis?
I'll tell you what a real crisis is.... losing forty-thousand jobs under the year-old PQ regime!

Now back to those wonderfully superior Quebec values that the PQ is so very proud of.

Just a few days ago, we were treated to another raid on another Quebec puppy mill, as sickening a story as you can imagine, emaciated and sick dogs, raised in filthy conditions. It happens all too often in Quebec. Read: Montreal SPCA seizes 90 dogs from South Shore puppy mill
Unfortunately, cruelty to animals is a value that separates Quebec from Canada.

Quebec ranks at the bottom of the list of provinces. Link
And let us remember those other values that separate Quebecers from Canadians, the miserly attitude towards charity and volunteerism. Read Quebec's Hoity-Toity, Self-Righteous Delusion of Superiority

I wonder if these Quebec values will be enshrined  in the legislation, to go along with that other great Quebec value..intolerance.

But being "tolerant" doesn't mean tolerate just about anything, for example promoting religions, especially sick religions.

Sick religion for you is having a woman wear a burqa in the same way your wife/girlfriend could show bad religion by wearing a miniskirt.

From the delightful Christian Bible that informs Catholic morality:

      Deuteronomy 25:11-12
11 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, 12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.

      Matthew 18:8
8 And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire.

      Leviticus 24:16
Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.

      Deuteronomy 21:18-21
If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey the voice of his father or the voice of his mother, and, though they discipline him, will not listen to them, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his city at the gate of the place where he lives, and they shall say to the elders of his city, ‘This our son is stubborn and rebellious; he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones.

      Exodus 21:17
And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.

      Leviticus 24:16
And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him.

      Deuteronomy 22:13-21 (regarding marriage violations):
13 If a man takes a wife and, after sleeping with her, dislikes her 14 and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman, but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity,” 15 then the young woman’s father and mother shall bring to the town elders at the gate proof that she was a virgin. 16 Her father will say to the elders, “I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. 17 Now he has slandered her and said, ‘I did not find your daughter to be a virgin.’ But here is the proof of my daughter’s virginity.” Then her parents shall display the cloth before the elders of the town, 18 and the elders shall take the man and punish him. 19 They shall fine him a hundred shekels[a] of silver and give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has given an Israelite virgin a bad name. She shall continue to be his wife; he must not divorce her as long as he lives. 20 If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the young woman’s virginity can be found, 21 she shall be brought to the door of her father’s house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death. She has done an outrageous thing in Israel by being promiscuous while still in her father’s house. You must purge the evil from among you.

Deuteronomy 22:23-24 (For adultery, including urban rape victims who fail to scream loud enough):
If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city.

Numbers 15:32-56 (For breaking the Sabbath):
They found a man that gathered sticks upon the Sabbath day. ... And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones.... And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.

We have a minute effect on the temperature of the plant. We can pollute and radiate our land yes. The sun is in control of temperature. Co2 and our brief period onthe plant are an insignificant influence vs the energy radiating from the sun every day.

Politicians and actors like Leonard Nimoy have been oscillating about this for years.

      Let;s review

first we though we were goign to have global cooling
then we learned that global warming was really the problem
now we are learning that it's going to be global cooling again..

Cooling is 2 for 1 so far even if you arn;t a man of science.

    16. If you dig into the poll SR (which is the same one I posted from originally) they bias the results. They do this by having a misleading preamble, it does not actually say what the charter actually says, it implys all religious symbols will be banned equally, including the cross, which makes the charter seem more equally applied and not hypocritical, which it is in it's current form. Their scale does not include a neutral point. The 66% also includes 28% of extremely limp support for the charter (tend to agree). They also fail to report any demographics, means, std, or most questions and results, it's hard to even guess at the generalizability of this poll as hardly any information is given. Its good for a laugh but that's about it.

As to the Civil servants union, these are the same people who supported bill 14 for the sole reason that if it passed they wouldn't have to speak English and it would make their jobs easier, what a class act. Considering how they are notorious for discriminating and not hiring either minorities or anglos and hence are mostly old francophones, I can't say it's surprising, they also know where their bread is buttered and who to suck up to to get plum jobs (hint it's the party in power). Shocking how most other unions are coming out against it though.

The level of CO2 does have a major impact on the temperature of planets. Venus is a good example. From Wikipedia:

"The CO2-rich atmosphere, along with thick clouds of sulfur dioxide, generates the strongest greenhouse effect in the Solar System, creating surface temperatures of at least 462 °C. This makes the Venusian surface hotter than Mercury's, which has a minimum surface temperature of −220 °C and maximum surface temperature of 420 °C, even though Venus is nearly twice Mercury's distance from the Sun and thus receives only 25% of Mercury's solar irradiance. The surface of Venus is often described as hellish. This temperature is higher than temperatures used to achieve sterilization."

François Legault's Coalition Avenir Québec trailed in third with 18 per cent, down a single point."

"A poll by Forum Research also showed a divide between Quebec and the rest of the country, but not to the extent some had perhaps expected. Overall, Forum found that 42 per cent of Canadians approved of the PQ's plan (including 58 per cent of Quebecers, very similar to Léger's findings), while 47 per cent disapproved. A majority of Canadians disapproved of it in every region outside of Quebec, except Alberta. But a significant minority were not put off by the plan either, with approval ranging from 35 to 40 per cent depending on the region, and disapproval never being higher than 56 per cent."

This following is a cut-and-paste of what you wrote above: "...if Quebecers accept the PQ version that they are kinder and gentler than Canadians, the Charter makes sense, an affirmation of that view."

"than Canadians"? Is that what you meant to write? I hope you intended to write "than other Canadians". Your lexicon in these articles is really starting to scare me. It's bad enough the term "English Canada" exists. There is no doubt the separatists like to use semantics to try and soften their true agenda, but here we are entering the 40th year of the post-Bill 22 era and with each passing government, the screws are continuously and perpetually tightening.

In the last ongoing 40 years, we've seen English, an official language of Canada, from being a freely used language in Quebec to having to be second or smaller on outdoor signs than Canada's other official language, to English being for all intents and purposes forbidden on ALL signs (indoor, outdoor, lit and unlit, large and small), to being ruled unconstitutional but intercepted by a supposedly federalist government legislating a law invoking the notwithstanding clause, to twice the size and twice the number and indoor and outdoor to laws to close off admission to English language schools due to too many "loopholes" by a supposedly federalist party to that same so-called federalist party hiring more language inspectors and hiring a head of the anti-English language "offeese" that is a fascist zealot to having another fascist zealot who now comes up with a new Charter of Bigotry that goes around deciding the size of religious symbols that are allowed vs what are not allowed and what clothes you can and cannot wear.

So there is the last 40 years in a nutshell. What is the next thing this nutbar state is going to rule illegal or unlawfully distasteful? This bullshit has been going on for going on a half century, so what's next?

    Somebody answer me, puh-leeze...WHAT'S NEXT?

Some day, just maybe some day it would be nice if the truth finally came out about Trudeau”s deception, this fraud that was forced upon the country. Yes his charter of wrongs and restrictions.

Some of what really went on was printed in French in Quebec, but the brain dead media outside kebec refuse to talk about the truth. They refuse to discuss the lies, the main reason this charter was forced upon the country in the first place. All we get outside kebec is spin, BS and more spin, all lies.

You have to fully understand who this person was. Trudeau was an anti-English language metis (he was not French) bigot. He despised out real BNA history. He was anti-Semitic, hid in a monastery during the war, supported separatism, supported a French only Kebec, supported the banning of the English language in Kebec, while forcing the French language all across the country. He bragged about doing this. He bragged and wrote about turning Canada into a french nation…he truly was a despicable, conniving, dishonest man. Go do some research, his true feelings are in print.

Taking all this into consideration, why do you think he forced this French style charter on the country and why do you think his good friend Levesque did not sign it? This was planned all along. Create chaos in kebec and Ottawa…force everyone but kebec to sign it… There was nothing wrong with the BNA act, our original constitution.

People keep saying that it was not signed by kebec (original spelling). Well now, Trudeau, Chretien and Ouellette are the only people to sign it, all from Kebec. It came from Kebec, Trudeu and gang of anti-English language, anti BNA bigots are the ones who came up with the idea in the first place. Yes indeed, force the rest of the country to fund whatever the French demand, enshrine it in the constitution, force bilingualism, multiculturalism on the rest of the country but don’t dare try and force this crap on kebec, no, no ST, not for our beloved Quebec

“French power” folks, this is the term brought to Ottawa by Trudeau and his gang from Kebec, Marchand, Pelletier and the rest. They bragged about it and did it. You can find their quotes bragging about this online. I have read them myself.

Until the charter is repealed and we go back to our original constitution, the BNA act, this country will continue to be divided, will continue to further and further into debt, will continue to live the lie of being a bilingual country, and all the spin and propaganda that has come with it, yes the linguistic duality lie, the 2 founding nations lie, the french only Kebec lie…See what he really did? We have lived this lie for 30 years now and its about time someone starts speaking the truth openly about what really went on in regards to the forcing of this mess, Trudeau and Kebecs charter of rights and freedoms. We have fewer rights and less freedoms now because of this hoax, this fraud.

If you don't believe in discrimination, then prepare this in english also and renounce discrimination against the anglophones that reside here as well. I too will not sign it until you take ALL discrimination into account and not just religious discrimination! The discrimination started with the anglophones; let it also end with the anglophones!

Your quebec bashing seems to have reached beyond the obsessive.
I do recognize that quebec - along with its inhabitants are not perfect (read separatists) and the place kinda sucks more and more (crumbling infrastructure, enormous public debt, etc)but sometimes you are -Editor - what you post about: you display indications of being intolerant and racist yourself.

I'm not sure if this was meant to be an argument to dismiss the animal cruelty caused by religious motives (mainly Halal and Kosher slaughter practices), but seems to me that just because something is already bad, that's not a valid excuse to continue or to make it even worse.

You can't simply dismiss things like this
    http://tvanouvelles.ca/lcn/infos/regional/archives/2011/11/20111108-090143.html

I owned a summer cottage near a small, rural Quebecois town in the Outaouais region and I met some of the inhabitants. Some of them were extremely cruel to animals. For example, a trapper in the area got his jollies by skinning alive some of the beavers he caught. Trapping is cruel enough but to torture the animals like that is absolutely outrageous.

“It represents the symbolic predominance of the historic French-speaking majority in the public space,” he wrote.

That’s what the PQ values charter is about. It’s about the supremacy of old-stock French-Canadians, and the ethnic nationalism characteristic of right-wing parties elsewhere in the world."

The doublespeak from lawyers has infiltrated the rest of society. We can no longer get clear answers on anything.

You can ask them if the grass is green. They will claim it's not actually green, it's just your cultural bias that makes you say that.

People are so easily put off from pushing to get the real answer.

Journalists no longer do their jobs. That's fallen to bloggers now. Journalists are largely just cheerleaders of whoever is in power at that moment.

Unfortunately it seems to be everywhere. Look at Obama. He's managed to fuck up the Syria issue about as badly as Pauline could yet his liberal media friends just keep tossing him puffball questions and stroking him.

The idiot is considering putting a largely "christian" (ie not crazy religious) society in between two warring factions of muslims. The Sunni and the Shia fighting in Syria.

What kind of idiot would get into the middle of that? Only a fool would get involved. Obama is learning that running the USA isn;t like being a community organizer. His credentials up to this point consist of running around Chicago with a clipboard getting signatures and writing books about himself.

When you choose to take a degree in "Art history" and then you can;t get a job, that's your own damn fault and you deserve what you get.

Decisions have consequences. More students should be thinking beyond their next "student protest" and think of what they will need to do to make money in the world beyond having your hand out like the PQ teaches you.

The more Quebecers that are dependent on the govt the better it is for the PQ. People that are dependent on the govt for all their money toe the party line much better and will not go against the govt for fear of losing all their benefits.

  26. Good post overall. This is just another example of why I feel that there is no future at all in this province except perhaps for the pur laine government worker for life. Other than that everyone else should be very worried. This charter is meant to appeal to the old school rural voter that has no experience dealing with immigrants and is worried about an increasing number of them coming here. As I said before I can sympathize one a few points but this charter is way over the top and totally unecessary..there are much more subtle ways one can deal with certain sticking points. This is pure politics and unfortunately our archaic first past the post system gives too much weight to the rural vote and not enough to the urban vote.
Still not sure what is so grand about Quebec culture or values..honestly as the editor pointed out I am not impressed by many aspects of this supposedly superior culture. In the end the vast majority of quebecois I have met live more or less the same as any other canadiand or american..they eat the same crappt processed food..they watch the same tv shows and movies but dubbed in french..ok they do have a stronger entertainment industry but still it tends to mimic what the rest of north america is doing..they are as materialistic as other n.americans..but they have a much stronger attachment to the welfare state as their incredible sense of insecurity makes this a necessity to fight against their difficulty to compete with bilingual anglo/allophones..so the state does everything in its power to keep the pur laines hires in the public service of quebec. They have the sugar shack, poutine and are a bit more savvy gastronomic-wise..they are a bit more environmentally conscious but still use massive amounts of energy, a bit more european but that has more to do with their desire to emulate france yet most quebecois barely have a grasp of their own language. So in the end I think they will be in for a rude awakening one day when the bond agencies force their interest rates up and they are forced to cut their massive public infrastructure..the same day is coming to france too in the near future. You can only borrow so much so long..

  29. Thanks for the nod to animal abuse in Quebec as a distinctive feature of Quebec values since this month is the two year anniversary of the most historic bust of a puppy mill in history. Over 500-600 dogs rescued from one puppy mill, Paws R Us. FIVE- SIX HUNDRED TORTURED to the point of death..puppy dogs.
The Humane society estimates there are 100,000 ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND TORTURE operations running in Quebec.
If you estimate around 100 tortured animals per mill that equals 10,000,000, TEN MILLION victims of Quebec "values", starved, raped, beaten, disease ridden, SCREAMING IN PAIN AND HORROR every second of their SHORT lives crammed like factory farmed chickens in chicken coups, dying in their own piss and shit pus and blood.
TEN MILLION of MAN'S BEST FRIEND AT THIS VERY MOMENT, RIGHT NOW, RIGHT HERE.
    WHY?
the puppies sell for between 400-600 a piece. Do the math.
Human trafficking ANIMAL trafficking have replaced drugs as the most profitable multi billion dollar industry in the world.
Why is QUEBEC the capitol of ANIMAL TRAFFIKING in NORTH AMERICA? THE BEST PLACE TO BE AN ANIMAL ABUSER?
Why are their only 5-6 inspectors for the ENTIRE territory of QUEBEC?
Why is there NO legislature to punish millers and animal torturers?
Why does Quebec still allow pet shops to sell puppy mill victims?
Why are puppy mills in Quebec linked to biker gangs and drug trafficking?
    FOLLOW THE MONEY.
Follow the little brown envelopes starting with the "inspectors" ending with the ministers.
That's Quebec baby, not merely the MOST CORRUPT territory in modern history but the MOST EVIL.
The relationship between animal torture and psychopathology, serial killers etc is well known.
    They start off TORTURING ANIMALS.
and here in Quebec, end up eating their young.
Wake up Canada. We have bred an evil puppy-dog torturing monster in Quebec. 2-3 million SOCIO/PSYCHOPATHS running amuck.
MAN's BEST FRIEND is the most HORRIFIC VICTIM of Quebec's CULT of HATE and DESTRUCTION
AND TRY TO SLEEP TONITE..IMAGINING THE SOUND OF TEN MILLION DOGS SCREAMING IN PAIN, right here in Canada in "La Belle Province"...
while billions and billions are WASTED on " pretending" that this EVIL that is Quebec needs "protection"

    2. PROOF? you obviously paid evil monster from the Quebec ministry of propaganda and disinformation)
      1) GOOGLE IT.
      2) follow media pages animal rights activist groups fighting daily the HORROR that is Quebec.
      3) anecdotal evidence. For the rescue of the 500-600 from the PURE EVIL that is Quebec, we had to call in an American special force, the same group that rescued the animals of Katrina, to RESCUE THE DOGS FROM THE QUEBEC MADE DISASTER/ HORROR of Quebec.
The SIX HUNDRED tortured animals were subsequently tortured in a QUEBEC ministry facility for THREE MONTHS MORE under MAPAQ while the EVIL courts of Quebec decided their fate.
This three month incarceration cost the tax payer "allegedly" 6,000 dollars a day.
Of course, Quebec court gave PAWSR US a slap on the wrist and within a month they were up and running again.
In fact, Quebec millers welcome busts. It is a grand opportunity to get rid of old sick dying stock at the tax payers expense and replace them immediately with new young stock.
An never ending nightmare of animal torture for PROFIT of the pur laine.
QUEBEC MAKES BILLIONS on animal abuse and torture.
To fund their terrorist and treasonist agenda.
Oh and btw.. the three month care of the 600 required at least 20 volunteers working 14 hour days..where did these volunteers come from? FROM FRANCO QUEBEC? The monsters responsible for the atrocities? OF COURSE NOT!
THEY CAME FROM ALL OVER NORTH AMERICA, on their own dime. They came from Miami, Texas, Ontario, Nova Scotia....
YET, we were FORCED to WASTE thousands of hours TRANSLATING everyday for the ONE ignorant unilingual "FC", thousands of hours lost that could have been spent helping the suffering dogs WASTED on the sociopaths of QUEBEC who caused the horror in the first place.
There are truly no words, no modern concepts to "explain away" the pure horror and evil that is Quebec and bred where?

Instead of facing Marois he hands her billions to go on torturing us. Trudeau, Chretien or Martin would have acted against bill 14 and her present abomination. Instead our prime Minister puts his head in the sand. Wait until a Fedral election comes along he will move then to get the vores. For now he figures he owes us nothing since we didn't vote for him or his party.. He will move when it's convenient to him. I blame Canada directly for our pain. We all elected Federal representatives to Ottawa who say and do nothing. If you have No one in Oattawa cares about a million suffering Canadians.here. The separatists do all this with the goal of getting that kind of reaction from the ROC, then they can twist that around and tell all the Québécois "Look, Canada does not share our values and they won't respect our choices"

The Federal gov. is better off sitting back staying quiet while the PQ does whatever they want to do, to not play the separatists game. It's not like if Quebec brings much to the rest of the country anyways.

Really R.S. i can't believe you would post these ancient words from the old testament to decribe the Church today. Any Christian knows these words mean nothing. They were taken from the passage when Noah landed on Ararat and God gave his survivors a set of rules. None of this is Christianity. Christianity began when Jesus took over the power of Heaven and declared, "I am the way, the truth and the life only through me will you get into the Kingdom of Heaven. That is what Christian Churches today are based on. Having suffered the pain of the cross ordained by his Father the power became his. The only words of the old testament that Jesus follows are the ten commandments which any right thinking person would agree are necessarry to live together.
Jesus made it clear that the way to Heaven is to follow the two great commandments, Love God and love Thy fellow man. Common sense tells us there was no Cjristianity before Jesus Christ arrived.
This is the love that Churches teach today. The love of the Holy Spirit which Jesus left for all of us to enjoy seeing others happy. The same thing is happening with Islamists. My Islamist freinds are all lovely people who believe in the same things we do (Allah told Mohammed to study the teachings of Jesus Christ) but some have taken the worst from the Koran and used it to kill and maim and denigrate the name of religion as you are doing here. I'm disgusted and feel his is so beneath you. Why would you do it? Ed

The civilized human mind is not capable of understanding the literal body count of FIVE MILLION, A YEAR.
Its like the Olympic stadium being filled to the brim with dead bodies every day.
The civilized human mind cannot process the horror and suffering of being gassed to death.
Do not deceive yourselves that these FIVE MILLION a year are humanely euthanized.
The majority are thrown into bins and gassed to death, the pain is excruciating.

Quebec as a major world player in puppy mills and animal trafficking is NOT MERELY responsible for the millions the tortured dogs and cats here in Quebec's with its HUNDRED THOUSAND PUPPY MILLS.
QUEBEC is directly responsible for the FIVE MILLION dogs gassed to death EVERY YEAR in NORTH AMERICA.

I also know quebec is the worst province in Canada for lax animal abuse laws. I would like to know though what makes you think that the PawsRUs puppy mill is up and running again and under what name? I know they were fined $10,000 dollars (at least that's what I read) and were not supposed to own animals again for a number of years. If I know they are in business again, I too will call the SPCA and report them personally. Thank you.

they were up and running again almost immediately.Importing new dogs from the states to start over again.NEVER NEVER BUY DOGS FROM INTERNET OR PET SHOPS.KIJIJJI is the worst. Just scroll through dogs for sale. They are all milled. There is a petition going around to stop KIJIJI.
There was a group formed of very dedicated volunteers who worked the three month long sheltering of the 600 and did follow up on their eventual placements. we were all very emotionally invested in these poor creatures..i will never forget the horrors. trying to teach them to WALK for the first time in their lives...to be just dogs again.
The group is called FreedomDogs Unite and they have a facebook page and website. They and other groups do their best to monitor pawsrus but there is little to do when there is so much money and corruption involved. The SPCA knows. THAnks for your care anyway.

I would never ever buy a dog over the internet or from a pet store; my last one I adopted because my vet (who is a friend) called and told me this 10 week old golden needed a home. So far, so good. He is six now and in great health to the best of my knowledge. Just brought him back from grooming about half an hour ago and he's such a sweetie. I will look up your group and pass the word about the work they do. Thank you so much for all you do on their behalf - our furry friends need us; that's for sure. Good luck and please keep your health in mind when you're doing this work - they need you. I admire anyone that can emotionally handle this sort of thing - I would never sleep again I'm afraid but I can assist with donations and passing the word around about adoptions. Try to remember that there are lots of people around like me also and I would never hurt a defenseless animal - ever and 99% of my friends are animal lovers.

Well done Pauline and her PQ followers, you are probably doing a great job reminding all new immigrants with an ethnic background that you are not "Quebecois" and never will be truly accepted in the Quebec civil service (and de facto as a member of society) unless you fully assimilate in language, dress and culture. I guess the PQ and separatists are not counting on the ethnic vote for a few decades to come.

In reading various articles over the last few days, this will only reinforce the hold of white francophones to have something akin to 98% of all provincial and municipal govt jobs, though one assumes that cleaners and janitors maybe permitted to wear their headscarfs or turbans etc as they are not in a position of authority or leadership. Welcome to Quebec values as interpreted by the PQ.

I dare say...anyone would be rather hard pressed to find a hijab, kippah or tuban in chicoutimim or some other hick town in this province. I think it is intentional..to try and run this city into the ground so that maybe then...Quebec city can slide in line ahead of it? Think about it folks. This is all part of the post 1995 referendum strategy the PQ brain trust cooked up to sow division amongst Quebec and the ROC. This is their last chance before demographics pushes the separatist option out of reach. Paul Wells in Macleans has a good article on this.

Here is an excerpt ,"one of the tactical tricks Jean-François Lisée cooked up during the long years before he entered electoral politics. In his 2000 book Sorti de secours, Lisée suggested the PQ cook up some scheme that would be rejected by the rest of the country, so Quebecers would feel insulted and want to secede."

We don't resort to any power when critiquing choices.

When we are finally able to utilize the powers of L'Office Contre les Idiots Utiles, you can come back with these comparisons. But for now, all we can do is point certain things out.

      Delete
    6. And even if L'Office Contre des Idiots Utiles existed, I would be so against it, for two reasons.

First, because I think people should make their own decisions and choices, even if I disagree with them.

Second, poster people of political groups which obviously do not represent the interests of the communities to which the poster boys and girls belong, like black Republicans or ethic Quebec nationalists, are either victims of false consciousness, or opportunists who know exactly what's going on but do it anyways for personal benefit which can be quite lavish if political groups accused of prejudice are desperate for token members. So something like L'Office Contre des Idiots Utiles would be totally useless against these people. False consciousness cannot be cured by coercion, it can only go away after a long process of learning and experience. Similarly, opportunism cannot be cured with coercion either.

    7. "I really hate the idea that the PQ are wrong for imposing their ideas and values on immigrants, including the primacy of French, etc... but that somehow immigrants that willingly CHOOSE to side with the PQ are doing anything else but exercising the rights and freedoms that you are purportedly fighting for! Talk about hypocrisy.

It's one of the most obvious blind spots in the 'anglo/allo rights' movement, such as it is."

What is deplorable and an act of treason really, is that Canada allows these people in and then they give Canada the finger. There is no blindspot in our Anglo/Allow community, we know exactly what we r dealing with, we don't consider the Maria's M's of the world to be remotely associated with what we r all about. Adski got it right...the lesson will do her good indeed. But if we take a moment and look at it for what it is, she was probably looking for an easy ride into a gov job, from the back door, and they were only too willing to let her in, obviously for their own hidden agenda. Now they can all look at themselves in the face with the disdain they feel, Then and Now. But WE feel vindicated by this, one more time the Seppies show themselves for the Bigots and Racists they are. Lol great day at the office.

    8. I don't like the term "treason". In fact, we should all be in a treasonous state of mind, if treason means a critical stance towards the state, whether province-state or nation-state, in which we happen to reside at a given moment.

    9. No, it's Treason...I like the term especially when we describe people who we allow to enter this country and then make it their purpose in Life to to stab this country in the back by working towards its destruction. Canada extended its citizenship, not Quebec, and after CANADA welcomes them they stick it to their Host by supporting a trouble-making province like this one?

i like the word Treason, it stands, but thx anyway Adski. Smiles.

Anonymous, you ask how can this happen? It's because we have a Prime Minioster who is a heartless coward. All this could be ended by him doing his job. Just mentioning that he might cut off equalization payments wouldmake Francophones sit up and ay attention even of Parois doesn't.

  41. The author think Quebecois are suffered from superiority complex, I think it's reversed. They are underdogs in all games. They lost all the wars. They produce no Nobel laureates. Their greatest invention are poutine and Celine Dion. Their best architecture is the Big Owe. They speak some language even their French brother don't understand. They live off Canada money, and many more, you name it. Logically, they will try to show they are more cultured, more environmentally friendly, socially responsible,.. blah blah blah. Without these BS, how can they survive from inferiority complex?

    1. Good for Pauline.

She is simply doing what the rest of the country wishes someone had the b alls to do.
Why is it that special interest groups and specifically the cult, feel they have the right to be "special" while in public/public institutions?

Why do they feel they should be able to proclaim they are "different" from the rest of the citizens? Why do they feel they are superior and we are below them? What is wrong with everyone being equal and proclaiming that there is no "special" groups in the taxpayer funded jobs?

They came here to be equal. Get with the program or move somewhere else where "your" program is welcomed.

Amnonymous, you have a lot to learn. These people do not come here to ne equal. They come to compete. compete. Man is a competitive animal. Competing in business, sports and leisure activities. Why else do we try to beat our tennis partner. These folks want to compete but do it in their own way which everyone has a right to do. Are you saying we who were born here should move out for the immigrants coming in. How would that be better for them. Try to make sense like the rest of the adults here. You could start by taking a name like Editor has asked you to do.` Ed
